Apple iPhone 5 Features – What’s in Store for US?

Apple products have always managed to create a buzz worldwide months before they are introduced in market. The release of iPhone 4S was much of a surprise for Apple fanatics, who had their eyes set on the iPhone 5.

Apple is mum about the features of its yet-to-be-released smartphone, the iPhone 5. There are rumors about the look & unique features that new Apple phone would come with, but no surety of course. Numerous predictions have been made about the iPhone 5 and after conducting a thorough research & facts check, we have made a list of possible features that iPhone 5 might come with. So, here we go:

Screen Size –

Rumors are there that the new iPhone might come with 4.3 inch screen. Since Apple is not so fond of big screens and has stuck with 3.5 inch display, there are more chances of a 4 inch device to be introduced.

Another issue is the screen resolution. If Apple prefers to stick with 3.5 inch display, the resolution will be same 960x640 pixels Retina display.

In case the screen gets blown up and developers decide to keep the same resolution i.e. 960x480, the iPhone 5 will have lower pixel density than iPhone 4/4S.

There are rumors that Apple might increase the resolution to 1080x720 for its 4 inch smartphone and this will give a pixel density of 325, which is slightly lower than the 330 pixels density in present iPhone 4/4S.

Thickness –

The iPhone 5 is ought to be slimmer than the iPhone 4/4S. Apple competitors have already introduced slimmer handsets like Droid Razr & Galaxy SII in market. Apple must take inspiration from its 8.8mm thick iPad and come up with a 7mm thick device, to give tougher competition to Droid Razr.

Processor –

Chances are there that Apple iPhone 5 might come with the all-new & better A6 processor. iPhone 4S has a dual core processor, so iPhone 5 being an improved version might come with a quad core processor or a more efficient dual-core chip with 2GHz speed. A quadcore processor will definitely make the device more power efficient and you can expect to get 20 hours of video calling efficiency.

If iPhone 5 comes with A6 processor, performance will skyrocket and power consumption will drop by 80% approximately.

4G LTE Technology –

There are rumors that Apple might feature 4G LTE technology in the iPhone 5. If rumors are to be believed, Apple will have to change the phone design to fit a new modem into it.

4G means faster data transfer & efficient video calling. Some of the manufacturers have already adopted this technology and Apple is yet to position itself in the 4G spectrum. If Apple iPhone 5 comes with 4G support, it will definitely increase the number of Apple addicts globally.

Camera –

Photography lovers will be satisfied if the iPhone 5 comes with a better camera. The iPhone 4 has 5 MP camera while iPhone 4S already has 8MP camera, so iPhone 5 might house an 8MP camera. News is around that Apple has filed patent 3D applications for image capturing. Therefore, iPhone 5 might have a 3D camera.

If we believe the rumors spread around, iPhone 5 will be released in 2012. But, Apple won’t be releasing the phone in the first half of the year because it has launched the iPhone 4S in October,2011 & such a hurried launch will affect the sales of iPhone 4S. Do you think Apple will launch the iPhone 5 before iPad 3? Well! Chances seem to be bleak. Will have to wait till the time Tim Cook takes the stage for announcing the launch of the most awaited smartphone of the year.
